OBRA Services

The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) is an act that provides funding to provide specialized services to individuals with mental retardation who reside in nursing facilities.

Arc Human Services, Inc. currently has two full-time and one part-time employee providing services both in Washington and Greene Counties.

Our staff provide services that assist individuals with the acquisition of the behaviors and skills necessary to function with as much self-determination and independence as possible. They also work on activities with the individuals that prevent or slow the regression or loss of current optimal functioning.

All individuals who use services must go through an eligibility process before being approved for services. Once eligibility has been established, Arc staff hold a multidisciplinary team meeting in order to create a service plan that best suits the individual. Nursing home staff and family members have stated that the OBRA staff have made significant impacts on the lives of the individuals that they serve. The staff are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with mental retardation.
