Residential

Group Homes

Arc Human Services, Inc. operates over 45 group homes, six independent living apartments and minimum-supervision situations in Washington and Allegheny Counties for over 80 men, women and children. At each site, direct care workers assist in providing a relaxing, enjoyable environment combined with teaching the necessary skills to maintain day to day living. Great care is given to structure community outings, vacations and participation in  events which allow the individuals with disabilities and the people in their environments to achieve appreciation for each other and establish pride in mutual sharing.

Man setting the table in a group home

Men, women and children with disabilities live in 24-hour supervised homes in the communities throughout Allegheny and Washington counties. The program gives each individual the opportunity to become as independent as possible. In a home environment setting, individuals are able to receive the attention and supervision needed to learn to cook, clean and shop and participate as fully as possible in the operation of their homes. Individuals learn self-care, mobility, personal and social development, communication and language skills, and money management.

Supported Living (Independent Living)

In this program, one or more adult individuals share an apartment or other residence in the community. They are living on their own but  receive support services and assistance from staff members on  as needed basis. The goal of this program is to have individuals graduate to a completely independent setting.  For some individuals, these settings, with regular staff visits, become their long term homes.
